Venkatesh Doreswamy Receives National Best Teacher Award in Physiology and Is Appointed Head of Department

Congratulations to Venkatesh Doreswamy (PHIL 2007), who received the 2011 Professor Puthuraya National Best Teacher Award in Physiology. The award was presented by Dr. Dennis Noble, President of the International Union of Physiological Societies, at the 57th Annual Conference of the Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists of India held at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.

Dr. Doreswamy has also been appointed Head of Department of Physiology at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, and was nominated to serve as a member of the Core Group for Quality Assurance at M.S. Ramaiah and its allied institutions. He credits his FAIMER experience for playing an important part in his professional achievements, and notes in particular that the sole criterion used for selecting members of the Core Group was FAIMER training.

Dr. Doreswamy has been active in publications as well. He served as a Section Editor for Best and Taylor’s Physiological Basis of Medical Practice, edited by O.P. Tandon and Y. Tripathi and published by Wolters Kluwer, Lippincott Williams and Wilkins. He was also recently nominated to serve on the editorial board of the Al Ameen Journal of Medical Sciences.
