Congratulations to Samar Ahmed (PHIL 2011), who contributed to an Erasmus Mundus student and faculty exchange proposal, which was recently accepted for funding. Erasmus Mundus is a program managed by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) that seeks to enhance higher education through cultural and academic initiatives between developing countries and countries in the European Union. Dr. Ahmed served as a team leader representing three Egyptian universities (Ain Shams University, Nile University, and Alexandria University) that contributed to the proposal, which was coordinated by the University of Oviedo in Spain. Now that the proposal has been accepted, Dr. Ahmed will spend the next year coordinating student and faculty exchanges with 12 European universities.
