Dinesh Badyal Publishes Second Edition of Book, Becomes Member of the Reconciliation Board of the Medical Council of India and Senior Editor of the Indian Journal of Pharmacology

Congratulations to Dinesh Badyal (CMCL 2007, PHIL 2009, FAIMER-Keele MHPE 2018), Co-Director of the CMCL-FAIMER Regional Institute, who has had a number of recent accomplishments. In April 2018, Dr. Badyal published a second edition of his book, Practical Manual of Pharmacology for Medical Students, a publication that stemmed from his CMCL education innovation project. That same month, he received an additional designation as Professor of Medical Education at Christian Medical College, Ludhiana. In February 2017, Dr. Badyal was nominated as a Member of the Reconciliation Board of the Medical Council of India, a board that deals with curriculum and academic matters in medical education. He was also nominated as Senior Editor of the Indian Journal of Pharmacology, the official publication of the Indian Pharmacological Society, in 2017.

In October 2016, Dr. Badyal and Dr. Chetna Desai (CMCL 2007) collaborated on a special issue of the Indian Journal of Pharmacology entitled “Revising and Innovating Pharmacology Education.” Dr. Desai served as Chief Editor and Dr. Badyal served as Guest Editor for this special issue. Also in October 2016, Dr. Badyal was awarded the Prof. G. Achari Oration at the 49th Annual Conference of the Indian Pharmacological Society as the Eminent Pharmacologist in India based on his work in pharmacology education and research. His oration focused on “Pharmacology Education in India: Challenges & Relevance.”

In 2015, Dr. Badyal was awarded the prestigious “Rajiv Gandhi Gold Medal Award” by the Global Economic Progress & Research Association (GEPRA). This award is presented annually to an individual who has made extraordinary contributions in specialized services such as health, education, research, industry, and social work. The award was presented to Dr. Badyal by the ex-Minister of State, Planning, during a National Unity Conference that was held on the occasion of the 71st birthday anniversary of the late Prime Minister of India, the Honorable Shri Rajiv Gandhi.
