Congratulations to Simeon Isezuo (PHIL 2018), who recently organized a faculty development workshop on behalf of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto, Nigeria. Dr. Isezuo co-facilitated the workshop with other senior members of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University faculty on July 14, 2018. Fifty-six faculty members representing the departments of medicine, pediatrics, surgery, community health, and obstetrics/gynecology attended the workshop, which focused on Mini-Clinical Evaluation Exercise (Mini-CEX) and Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS). Activities included lectures, interactive group activities, and plenary sessions covering introductions to mini-CEX and DOPS, settings in which they can be used, anticipated constraints and proffered solutions, qualities of good assessment, characteristics of good feedback, and hands-on mini-CEX and DOPS experiences using simulators.
