Congratulations to Chitra Pai (GSMC 2009), who recently facilitated a Memorandum of Understanding between Touro University California (TUC) and the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, India. This collaboration was undertaken to strengthen programs in global health with benefit to the faculties, clinicians, and students of both institutions. Under the Global Health Summer Internship program, medical students of TUC will visit India and participate in clinical shadowing and community outreach at the affiliated hospitals of MAHE. The main objectives are to integrate global public health theory, knowledge, and skills in an international setting, and develop cultural sensitivity and competency.
Dr. Pai recently assumed the role of Course Coordinator of the Integrated Systems-GERD (GI, Endocrine, Reproductive and Dermatology) course at TUC. She also shares that she was honored to receive this year’s student-nominated “Teacher of the Year” award for Basic Sciences at the TUC College of Osteopathic Medicine.
