Announcement to the FAIMER Community

FAIMER Regional Institute in Latin America (FRILA) Closure and Next Steps

May 01, 2026

We would like to share that, following discussions with the host institution, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), the FAIMER Regional Institute in Latin America (FRILA), launched in 2018 in Chile, will be closing in its current form due to local resource and sustainability constraints.

Over its program years, FRILA graduated 25 fellows from five countries—Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, and Uruguay—and made a meaningful contribution to strengthening health professions education and leadership in the region.

We are deeply grateful to PUCFRILA directors and co-directors, and FRILA faculty and fellows, for their partnership and commitment. FAIMER is exploring next steps for continued engagement and future collaboration in Latin America.

With regards,
