In October 2008, Dr. Kusurkar joined the Center for Research and Development of Education at the University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands. As a Researcher in Education there, Dr. Kusurkar is focusing on motivation in students to attend medical school. She is pursuing her Ph.D. in Medical Education concurrently.

Dr. Kusurkar credits her FAIMER fellowship with providing direction for her research.
