FAIMER Global Faculty member Wagdy Talaat (PHIL 2007) is the principal author of two new Arabic language books in health professions education:
Community Based Education: Theory and Practice, coauthored with Rania A. Khadragy, M.D., M.Sc.
Quality and Accreditation in Health Professions Education, coauthored with Shimaa E. El Araby, M.D., M.Sc.
The books are being published by the World Health Organization - Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (WHO-EMRO) along with two additional books in Arabic, authored under Professor Talaat’s guidance:
Curriculum Development in Health Professions Education by Nahla H. Kebir, M.D., Ph.D. and Adel A. Mohamed, M.D., Ph.D.
Principles of Teaching and Learning in Health Professions Education by Amira M. Farghaly, M.D., Ph.D.
The publication of these four volumes coincides with the December 2011 launch of the Arabic Diploma of Health Professions Education (ADHPE), a distance learning program developed by Professor Talaat and offered by the International Center for Training in Medical Education and Distance Learning of the Medical Education Department, Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University (MED-FOM-SCU), in partnership WHO-EMRO. The Arabic program is an outgrowth of MED-FOM-SCU’s Diploma of Health Professions Education (DHPE), a distance-learning program conducted in English and established by Professor Talaat as part of his FAIMER education innovation project.
The publication of four new volumes covering key topics in health professions education, along with the launch of the ADHPE, represents a major step forward in advancing health professions education in the Eastern Mediterranean region, where Arabic is the predominant language in 20 countries.
