Hajat Safinah Kisu Museene Hosts President of Uganda at Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery 60-Year Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

SAFRI 2009 Fellow Hajat Safinah Kisu Museene reports that on June 22, 2014, the Ugandan President, His Excellence General Yoweri Museveni, visited Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery as a guest of honor at the school’s 60-year diamond jubilee. During his visit, the President unveiled a master plan for the Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery expansion project at Masese. The Minister of Education and Sport, who was also in attendance, pledged to fully implement the expansion project, which will enable the school to offer degrees in nursing, midwifery, and other health-related disciplines. Professor Museene reports that the visit was very exciting. The President was happy with development at the school and encouraged all Ugandans to pursue medical and health sciences education. He stated that quality should be assured as the products of health training institutions serve both nationally and internationally.
