Associate Professor of Physiology
University College of Medical Sciences
New Delhi, India
Congratulations to Satendra Singh (CMCL 2011), who was a recipient of the 2017 Henry Viscardi Achievement Award. Awarded annually since 2013, these international awards recognize exemplary leaders within the disability community and their societal contributions, while remembering the spirit and legacy of Dr. Henry Viscardi, Jr., who served as a disability advisor to eight U.S. Presidents. Since their inception, the Viscardi Awards have drawn nominations from cities throughout the United States and countries around the world. Nominations have included individuals with a wide range of disabilities from academia, health care, government, non-profit, and corporate sectors. Dr. Singh, who played an integral role in making India’s 2014 general elections in New Delhi accessible to people with disabilities, is the first Indian to receive a Viscardi Award.
Dr. Singh was also selected as “Medical Personality of the Year” by the Delhi Medical Association, an award presented to him in December 2017 by the President of the Medical Council of India.
