Dr. Waqar M. Naqvi [IFI 2024] Completes Second PhD in Health Professions Education

Dr. Waqar M. Naqvi, an International FAIMER Fellow (IFI 2024–2026), recently completed a second PhD in Health Professions Education, in addition to his earlier PhD in Physiotherapy. His work focuses on advancing research capacity, artificial intelligence integration, and innovation in health professions education.

Dr. Naqvi has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications with over 1,700 citations and an h-index of 21. He is the lead author of the PhyCARE Reporting Guideline, the first international reporting guideline developed specifically for physiotherapy case reports, published in BMJ Open and listed on the EQUATOR Network.

Through his FAIMER project, he is exploring the use of generative artificial intelligence to strengthen evidence synthesis skills among medical students and educators. He also conducts global workshops on AI in research and health professions education, training healthcare professionals across multiple countries.
